On Monday, I did something I’d never done in my 69 years on Earth. I stood on a corner, at the same time as President Donald Trump’s inauguration, with an American flag and a sign that read “God bless the USA and President Trump.”
Why? Because the Herald (Jan. 19) had just covered a 300-person protest of Trump here in Durango and I felt motivated to represent the other side.
It was an interesting experience, despite the cold wind. Most people drove by with no response, a lot of people honked their car horns as a show of support and one person brought me coffee and doughnuts.
A handful of people, obviously unhappy with Trump’s election, drove by with their middle finger extended at me (mainly women) with some shouting expletives.
I wondered where was that Democrat tolerance of other’s opinions? Where was Kamala’s joy? Those qualities seem to have been conditioned on Kamala’s election and insincere. Their liberal tears brought me satisfaction.
